After having read about the project-management disaster in Vienna (Austria), that for some reason is used to make Linux look bad (Wiping there incompetent hands, they are!)…, I would like to know if any one has ever experienced a successful “Changing to Linux from Windows”-project ?
If yes, then how was it handeled?
What convinced the company to go ahead with Linux ?
What was done to activate the users ?
How was “problem-software” found, and the problems solved ?
Learning curves ?
Usercompliance with the project while the project runs ?
What after the project’s finished ?
A year later ???

I have a feeling that small businesses would benefit greatly from changing from Windows to Ubuntu as there office desktop, but has it ever been done succesfully ???

No Trolling, please.
Only competent, experienced, “Know how to”, “Been there, done that” answers…., please…

From Denmark:

Somebody is really pissed !!!

Microsoft to kill the eeePC

And every other Ultra Lowcost Mobile PC (ULMPC)…

Microsoft’s been pushing hard for det vendors, Asus, HP and others, to preinstall a crippled XP-version, instead of Linux.
And I’m afraid to say, they seem to be succesfull.

Bugger !!!!

Microsoft is offering a special version of the Windows XP, at a “Special Price for You” to the vendors…
But only on certain terms !!!
Some of the terms are, that Microsoft cripples the hardware on those little PC’s, so as they wont begin to compete with the Vista market.
If ULMPC’s became powerfull enough to compete directly with ordinary PC’s, capable of running Vista…, and are preinstalled with Linux…, “Microsoft Don’t Like” !
These are some of the terms, set by Microsoft:

Screensize to be limited to 10.2″.
- Not really that much of a problem, because the ULMPC’s have to be small anyway…
But if foldable screens was to become an option, why then decide on limitations ?
Why any limitations at all ?

No touchscreen.
- Piss of Microsoft, and leave innovation to the vendors.
The ULMPC’s are perfect for touchscreen, so this is a clear evidence, that Microsoft just want’s to kill every one of them.
But it’s not gonna help with Windows 7 !!!
Microsoft’s real fear is, that it’s gonna be evident, that Microsoft didn’t invent (multi)touch technology, if the Linux based ULMPC’s incoorporate it already.

Harddrives limited to max. 80 GB.
- Doooh…, why ???
Microsoft stupidity, again.
In two years, its gonna be hard finding a HD that small…
And if Microsoft want’s XP to cramp the space on a HD, then it’s like shooting themselves in there big (clay) feet…

1 GB RAM – memory !
- Again, this is only to aggravate the customers…, and to prevent the ULMPC’s from stealing Vista – marketshares.
RAM has to be expandable on a ULMPC, as every other PC !

CPU speed, max. 1 GHz !
- Like I said above !
Luckily CPU’s move ahead faster than Microsoft…

And then there are exeptions from those demands for certain vendors, if you belong to the “Microsoft friend-club”.

Those demands only shows, that Microsft has turned in to a dinosaur.

Driving technologi and innovation ahead in a multitude of directions, is not nearly as important as the greed for Dollars !!!
Microsoft has turned into a parasite on innovation and freedom in this world.

What else is in the “Special Price for You”-package ?
Nobody know’s, but we are talking Microsoft, so it’s most likely linked up with all other Microsoft products, leaving the vendors no choise but to install the crippled XP on the ULMPC’s, if they don’t wanna be forced to pay Microsoft countless millions of dollars.

I have an idea’, that the Microsoft aggreement is, that Microsoft is to get $, no matter what OS is on a sold ULMPC.

Microsoft might be lucky in stopping those pesky little PC’s, but every one else, you and I, will be loosers in this !
Microsoft dosn’t do this because they truely believe, that XP and Vista are the best thing that has happened to humanity ever.
They do it, cause’ they want…, not a piece of the cake, but the hole cake, from all those millions of ULMPC’s sold out there…
Since Microsoft can’t change that they have created a Monster OS in Vista, that only runs on power-consuming and expensive hardware (Green company profile ??? NOT!!!), they have to tweak XP and use it to do the fighting on the ULMPC battlefield.
And kill Linux in the same offensive, witch could very well happen, if the Linux community is not aware of the danger.

Microsoft prepares a Linux assault !

Some time ago, Microsoft tried to intimidate the Linux world, with the company-armada of lawyers they have.
And somehow they succeded in forcing some of the Linux company’s to sign an aggrement.
Nobody know’s what’s in it !!!
Microsoft want’s it to be kept in the dark shadows of secrecy.
The main point was something about Intellectual Propperty’s, but if those company’s really did violate something, why did Microsoft choose to be satisfied when those aggements was signed ?
Why not take it further ?
I know that Red Hat signed and that Xandros (the eeePC OS) signed, but what about all those that didn’t just bend-over to Microsofts claims and demands ?
Apparantly Microsoft have chosen not to persue the case of the IP’s further, which shows that they didn’t really have much of a case.
A case that could only be investigatet completely, if Microsoft would be willing to let a neutral party do sourcecode comparising.
“Microsoft Dont Like!”

I really hope that Canonical (Ubuntu) have prepared for this, the day that Microsoft launches there full broadside attack on them.
The signed aggrements between the Linux companies and Microsoft runs to 2011, so most likely Microsoft will role out the canons a year in advance…
Just you wait and see.
Microsoft seeks domination in a scaringly fascist/communist way.

“There can be only One!!!”

Don’t buy Canon !!!

Canon is a Stinker !

In the familly, we have a Canon camera (EOS400D), a multifunctional printer/scanner (Pixma MP750) and a flatbedscanner (CanoScan 8400F).

So we have put quite a bit of money in Canon’s pockets.

But my money is worth less, much less, than most other people.

Because I dare to use Linux (Ubuntu) as my OS.

Apparently the official policy of Canon, is that of arrogance, ignorance and utter stupidity, that they don’t give a shit about Linux-costumers !
Apparently ther scanners involves so big secrets, that they don’t even want to support any kind of program, to help Linux-users get there Canon scanners to work.

The camera is no problem, but since I don’t want to support a company with that kind of atitudeproblem, as Canon, I trashed it and bought a Panasonic DMC L10K.
And I’m happy to, because it’s a much, much better camera.

Don’t buy Canon camera’s. Buy Panasonic !!!

The multifunctional printer/scanner works, as a printer…
But no scanning !
And absolutely no help from Canon !!!
Solution : Luckily I have a HP to and that actually works !

Don’t buy Canon Multifunctional devices. Buy HP or Epson !!!

My super flatbedscanner, the CanoScan 8400F, is a totaly no-go in Linux.
From Canon there is no help, but arrogant answers.

Don’t buy Canon Scanners.

Buy anything else !!!

Linux Unite against Canon !!!

Oh by the way, Canon cooperate-people…!!!
You know…, all those eeePC’s and alike…
Those people with one of those, they won’t buy anything Canon, cause’ the Canon-crap won’t work !!!

How many eeePC’s are sold world-wide ?

How many customers are you potentialy loosing ???

What kind of society ?

Do we want a society, that just say’s Fuck off to those that are in need ?

Look at the Scandinavian country’s !

They have full (actually full) social security, no ileteracy and actually an average level of education higher than anywhere else in the world.
Everybody has clean water to drink, plenty of food, can go where ever they want and, and thats important, they can say and think as they like…
The Scandinavian (actually the Nordic-) countrys are also the most peaceful you can find, even though Denmark is the NATO partner that (pr. inhabitant) has the most soldiers in active combat duty in Afghanistan, and also stood close allied to USA in Iraq.

And it’s country’s without death-penalty…
They don’t kill there own citizens !!!
No death row here !
And they are still able to have so little murder, rape and violence ???

I like the idea of a society that actually cares for the less fortunate, nomatter how they ended up there…, a society that presents itself as a good example of not killing people (value of EVERY life (Logic: I don’t stop others from killing, by killing myself. If killing was to be helpfull in creating a good society, the mid-eastern countrys would be the most peacefull places on earth. For the last 3000+ years they have NOT !!!)), society’s that walue the freedom of speach and says no to extremism.

What kind of society do we want ???

Why I Blog here…

Even though freedom of speach is Fundamental, and not ever to be lost I hope, there are topics that ignites acute aggression in some people, if (when) I write in a way those poor bastards don’t like.

And since those people don’t distingues between me, my brother, my father or any other with the same last name, and also attacks my hosting provider…, there are topics that I dare not write about on my personal blog.
So much for real freedom of speach !
Thats the reason I have this more anonymous WordPress Blog, to deal with controversial political, religious, environmental and so on, issues…

And then its a playground for writing.
Most of what I write are little anecdotes about many things, so being provocative and on the edge is actually not the main pupose.
